Foreword
Van Leeuwen More than tubes.

This is our newest edition of the VL Connect, Van Leeuwen’s online magazine for our customers and other important stakeholders. With the VL Connect, we like to keep you up to date four times a year, with news – great and small – from our global network.

Van Leeuwen is a leading internationally operating trading company and a specialist in steel pipes, and pipe and tube applications. The company, with its head office in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, includes 75 offices and stock-keeping locations in 33 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and North America. Our global logistics and knowledge of products and customer applications make us a leading, specialized company in our markets. With the VL Connect, we share news from our global network with our customers and relations.

Ukraine

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is a situation of great concern, the consequences of which we cannot yet foresee. With a branch in Lviv, our care and attention are first and foremost for the safety of our Ukrainian colleagues. Fortunately, they and their families are currently safe. The branch is closed for the time being.

In this VL Connect, Procurement Manager Martijn van Eck focuses on the consequences of the situation in Ukraine on the steel market. We can imagine that our customers, suppliers and relations have questions: please ask them via your usual contacts.

In addition,  Pirmin Helbling and Roger Gaehler, Managing Directors of Van Leeuwen’s company Kindlimann, tell us about developments in the European steel market, including the Swiss market where Kindlimann is located.

This edition also focuses on our Pipelines market segment, the HES Hartel project, boiler tubes, a solar panel project in Zwijndrecht, and the 75th anniversary of our Kindlimann branch in Switzerland.
