Shell Manatee project
Van Leeuwen also plays an important role in the Manatee project for Shell Trinidad and Tobago. The project involves the tie-in of gas pipeline into the Atlantic LNG export facility, with first gas expected in 2027. The project covers pipes, fittings and flanges in CS, LTCS, SS and Duplex. Van Leeuwen ensured that the customer remained informed at every stage of the order cycle; from sourcing to delivery. High technical integrity under compressed schedules and complex stakeholder requirements was needed during this process. In coordination with our EPC partner, we supported the delivery of Shell’s technical scope by acting as an integration point between expectations and execution. By maintaining daily communication with both vendors and the customer, we kept execution on track and mitigated delays. Keeping the project on track despite supply chain and technical pressures with transparent reporting and quick decision making when needed, were key success factors in this project.
Linde Venture Global 2 project
Van Leeuwen Zwijndrecht has had a long-standing cooperation with Linde Engineering in Germany. Over the years, we have gained extensive experience in supplying pipes, fittings, and flanges for various Linde projects. For Venture Global II (a project for Nitrogen Removal Units in the United States), we secured the package for pipes, fittings, and flanges, where delivery time was the key to success. Most of the materials were supplied from China. Our office in China played an important role in procurement, expediting, and inspections. From Van Leeuwen Zwijndrecht, we had the lead and handled customer communication, expediting, inspections, documentation, logistics, and invoicing. Thanks to this strong cooperation and our many years of experience with Linde procedures, we were able to deliver the materials on time.
Ruud Langeveld, Managing Director Global Project Organization
“Van Leeuwen has an extensive track record in supplying piping materials to EPC’s and end-users to realize energy capex projects. Our global footprint, experienced teams and excellent connections with quality manufacturers ensure a smooth and successful execution of complex projects. With the Global Project Organization, Van Leeuwen is more than a material supplier, we are a strategic project partner.”
During the past months, our project teams have been working on the supply and completion of multiple notable projects, below some further details on two of those projects:
More and more Capex projects involve various project and production locations around the world. In past decades Van Leeuwen has offered specialized services for these projects. From sourcing all the required pipes, fittings and flanges to delivering on time in multiple take-offs. Our 15 Global Project Teams are closely connected and cooperate during the various stages of a project. Modern dedicated Project Management tools are used to ensure full project transparency, material traceability and smooth cooperation with the customer.
Van Leeuwen operates with 8 Competence Centers with specialized teams in management and execution of such large capex projects.
In our IATF-certified facility in Slovakia we transform tubes into the high-precision cross car beam components. With cutting, deburring, 3D tube bending and 3D lasering processing the beams are created. Recent investments in new pressing tools and integrated laser marking enables us to process new, more complex shapes with high efficiency.
Customers across Europe and the US rely on our solutions with deliveries to automotive suppliers in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. The market demand remains stable across all vehicle types: combustion, hybrid (MHEV, PHEV) or full electric cars. This makes cross car beams a strategic pillar in our portfolio.
Quality is ensured through strict tolerances, stable processes and continuously process improvement thinking. Depending on the availability of tools and stock, a cross car beam is produced in a single day. Alongside processing, we provide packaging, JIT deliveries and consignment stock services.
The automotive industry is one of the major market segments at Royal Van Leeuwen. Every year we produce over 150 million parts worldwide, enough material to circle the earth twice. One application in which our tubes make a real difference is the cross car beam. This beam prevents the passenger compartment from compressing during side impact, while also supporting components such as the steering wheel, airbags and the dashboard.
Our tubes support many leading automotive customers with production facilities in Europe. Customers continue their business with Van Leeuwen with new projects, proving our engineering competence, reliability and long-term partnership approach.
